The Red Oaks Stage

The Red Oaks School is an independent Montessori school in Morristown, New Jersey that educates children from preschool through eighth grade across two campuses. In 2020, the school began negotiations to move their existing middle school campus from its 6,000 square foot building into a new 20,000 square foot building on the site of a former catholic school that had previously closed. The entire project was a massive undertaking that involved renovating the entire building from the 1950s, including a gymantorium stage with a lot of potential that was in severe disrepair. I came on as the sole theatrical consultant, pouring my own time and resources into a project with a shoestring budget. Over the course of a staged three year renovation, the old gym stage was transformed into a usable theatrical performance space thanks to a lot of help from a handful of exceptionally gracious volunteers and generous professionals.
